The Playful Family eBook
We don’t stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing. ~ George Bernard Shaw
The Playful Family encourages and challenges busy parents to slow down and spend quality time together with their children, regardless of their age. With nearly 100 ways to connect, engage and play together this easy-to-read e-book is a must-have resource for any parent interested in becoming more playful and happy while raising children. Each chapter includes dozens of ideas as well as a challenge to motivate families to put their own ideas to work in real life.
Playful families are living life fully every day, not just working 9 to 6. They smile together and dance together. They play together and cook together. They have fun together. Evenings and weekends are filled with experiences of connectedness and engaging conversations – rather than everyone hiding behind their computer screen or the TV.

Being a playful family has always been my goal — not because I think responsibility and hard work isn’t important but because I want to live a meaningful life and we want to ensure that our children grow up understanding that they have control over what makes them happy.
Plus, I get tired of hearing about unhappy parents. Raising children doesn’t have to be a terrible experience. Difficult? Yes. Terrible? No.
This 35-page book with nearly 100 ways to play and connect is available on Kindle as an e-reader version. It is written from the heart. It grew out of my years as a parent of trying to stop rushing around and start slowing down.
Inside you’ll find nearly 100 ways to play and engage as a family. All of the ideas can be tailored to suit one child or several. All of the ideas can work for a toddler or a teenager.
Each chapter includes fun activities to do together as well as CHALLENGES for you, the parent, to do with your children. The challenges are easy, fun and will definitely get you thinking. Each chapter will get you closer to that feeling of being the kind of family you always wanted to be — but maybe lost sight of along the way.

Here’s what people are saying about The Playful Family.
“Even though I would consider our family to be a ‘playful family’ I still found pratcical suggestions to engage in play with my children. From being a scary character in role play to mixing up your routine. As well as providing ideas to play and be playful there are also tips to connect- ideas to help you celebrate the everyday and the extraordinary (my favorite being a memory jar).” ~ The Fairy and the Frog.
“I really enjoyed reading The Playful Family, on making play (and a playful spirit) a part of parenting. It’s a message that I needed and that I think many families need.” Jean at The Artful Parent
“After reading the e-book called The Playful Family, by Shawn Ledington Fink from Awesomely Awake, I have been thinking a lot about playtime, and what it means in our family.” Zanni at Heart Mama
“What is great about this book is that Shawn actually gives you simple, fun ideas on how to embrace an extraordinary life as a family. Ways to just “be” with your children. How to have fun and play as a family. There are nearly 100 ways to help you get through those difficult days of parenting and live authentically. You don’t need a bunch of props or hours upon hours to prepare these special days, and they surely won’t lighten your wallet. They are just creative ways to enjoy the everyday together, while mixing up your routines and taking the road less traveled.” Gina at Connecting Family and Seoul
