Always say “yes” to the present moment. What could be more futile, more insane, than to create inner resistance to what already is? what could be more insane than to oppose life itself, which is now and always now? Surrender to what is. Say “yes” to life — and see how life suddenly starts working for you rather than against you. ~ Eckhart Tolle
Lean into this moment, the one that you’re in.
Open your eyes really big. Breathe. Right here is all that you need to know.
Try not to change a thing. Stay with it.
If it’s waiting for the stray child to gather her things to rush out the door, so be it.
If it’s picking up his dirty socks all over the floor yet again, so be it.
If it’s managing a squabble between siblings, so be it.
If it’s waiting in line or traffic or for the next big thing, so be it.
Wait it out. Go with the flow. Lean into what matters right this second.
Let everything else go.
If the baby is crying and just won’t stop, cry with him.
If you’re tired, exhausted and cranky, stop everything and do nothing. Think of how nice it will feel when this, too, shall pass.
If the kids want to wrestle, wrestle. If they want to read, read. If they want to eat, eat. If they want to take a walk, walk. If they want to dance, dance.
Finding your family’s flow is simply a matter of paying attention. Sure, there has to be compromise. Things still need to get done. And they will.
But determining the importance of this moment is simple: It’s just a matter of … opening your eyes, breathing and surrendering to yes.

If it’s doing the dishes with a smile on my face a la Thich Nhat Hanh, then it’s enjoying being in that present moment and doing the dishes (even if the kitchen is 106 degrees). Thanks for the invitation to say yes and the reminder to cherish the present moment.
What a simple yet so important message you shared today. Thank you! I really needed this right now.
This is just what I needed to hear today! I’m off to lean into my family. Thank you!
I appreciate you letting me know … you’re so kind. And, thank you for reminding me again to check out your blog. I am interested … just so busy. xoxo
I love this piece and I love the whole concept of surrender to yes! So often in my past I have surrendered to no, I have found that when I say yes doors open, angels sing and my life feels right. Thank you so much for sharing this link with our Bonbon Break readers!
